Does overeving cause valve float?

i take it the cam is opening the valve at a rate that the spring does not respond to fast enough to close as fast as it opens.

and if the bike has a rev limiter honda has probably figured out at what rpm the valves float, and set the rpm below this

  2. It absolutely does cause valve float. Don't do it!

    Yes - That limiter is there for a good reason.

  3. Yep thats what does it unless you have lost tension in your springs

    You can install stronger springs but I wouldnt ,There is no need for that high a rev to start with

  4. Over reving causes valve clash.  Similar to you description the spring cannot react fast enough and the valve clash with the pistons.

    Yes Honda knows what they are doing.  Sadly it is still possible to over rev is you down shift wrongly.
