Does pacman have what it takes?

Question

facts: delahoya is now scheduled to go up against pacman on dec. 6 this year if all goes well and it would be a fight on 147lbs. delahoya currently at 154 will trim down a bit and pacman currently on 135 will have to put on weight to meet in the middle.

pacman is asking 20m for the fight and 750,000 dollars fine per pound if delahoya goes over 147lbs.

question now is, you think pacman has what it takes?

-frankly, i dont think so, at 135 he might have a chance, but at 147, its just to heavy for him, plus delahoya is really large for him, and putting on weight meaning lossing speed and although might gain some power, but punching a 147 is not thesame as hitting a 135. what are your thoughts?

Pac is too small. De la Hoya will win just by virtue of being the bigger man, not to mention he's a better technical boxer.

pacman is too small  to take on any 147 pounder...especially one that has campaigned at middleweight.

one advantage to pacquiao is that it is not healthy shedding down to welterweight after campaigning at higher weights for so long, but i still go wit de la hoya.

De La Hoya has taken shots from Tito Trinidad, Mosely, Vargas, Quartey, Hopkins, Mayorga, Etc.  Unfortunately for Pacquiao, he will not be able to hurt De La hoya. Pacman will not be able to outbox DLH and will be in front of DLH's jab all night long before being set up for the left hook.

As much as I've slagged De La Hoya in the past for fighting too far past his best years, he should be able to handle Pacquiao with ease.

Forget Pacman's current weight. He started out as a junior flyweight! That means, if the fight takes place at 147, he will be more than 40 pounds heavier than where he started his career.

In comparison, Oscar started at junior lightweight, 130 pounds. Imagine Oscar packing on 40+ pounds to fight at light heavyweight. Simply ridiculous. Very few fighters can move up that much in weight and still be effective.

De La Hoya is just naturally far too big a guy for Pacquiao to be competitive against.

pacman is used to fighting at 130. if he moves to 147, that'll slow him down, and without speed, pacman is helpless. also, 17 pounds makes a big difference in lighter weight classes. Sure, I would be rooting for pacman, but he doesn't have what it takes to be de la hoya.

Pacman is too small for De La Hoya.  De La Hoya is a large welterweight as it is and Pacman won't be able to match up.

One thing Pacman does have going for himself is that he's a puncher, and puncher's always have a chance.  He will gain a lot of muscle but won't retain his speed.  He will still have that killer left.  

We'll see if this happens........

I think a better matchup for him would be against Hitman, but even then I would take Hitman.

pacman has what it takes at lighter weights but if he attempts a fight with dlh he will lose pac hasnt even proved anything at 130 he fought david diaz lol that guy was taylor made for pac he hasnt proved anything in my eyes at 130 h**l marquez is fighting casamayor if he wins that fight he proves tons more then pac did at 130 that being said if this fight happens its dlh's way of trying to earn his spot in mexicans heart that he has yearned for. i mean when you destroy the so called mexican killer how can the nation not love you

i'm filipino so you know that i'm a manny fan.  that being said, i think manny's crazy if he takes this fight.  look what happened to oscar during his first fight as a middleweight.  he looked terrible.  manny should go at most to 140.  if he got caught by a hard punch at 147, it's a wrap.  

my prediction is oscar will fight sergio mora for his last fight.  it's in his weight class already, he'd school him, and he'd retire a champ.

I agree with you he is to small to fight at that weight, he will lose it will make de la hoya look good & will be a good payday for both, not good for boxing though, it needs more bouts like last saturday not shows like this
