Everyone knows in high school you have to participate in extracurricular activities in order to have a good chance at college admission. But does extracurricular activity matter in job application or graduate school admission after college?

I'm only planning on tennis club and campus crusade, but I don't want to do more because I want to maintain a high gpa.

  1. Seems to me (as a senior in college) that the only ones that really make a difference for your first job after are those that are applicable to that job.  For instance, I'm a nursing major.  They prefer us to have volunteer hours at the hospital in addition to our class work at the hospital.  For a business major, I imagine some kind of business related academic club or society would be beneficial.  Beyond that, no, I don't believe your tennis or religious extra curriculars will do you any good.
