I have had sedentary desk jobs and physical jobs. Now that I get lots of exercise at my job, I find that all I do is sleep on my day off. Bummer.

  1. The reason why we sleep is to give the body and brain a chance to rest and relax.

For those who have occupations with a lot of sitting and mental work again the mind needs to rest at night to recharge, so to speak.  However the body itself may need some exercise on top of what the person does at work, depending on whether they are the ones to do the housework, shopping, etc.

For those who have occupations where there is a lot of physical work, the body is already tired by the time the person gets home, but the mind may still need to be active and so you would see them socialising a lot or doing something to exercise the brain so that it becomes tired as well.

  2. Simple answer is yes. The harder u work the more sleep you will require. Sleeping helps us heal. If you haven't notice when people are really sick they sleep almost all the time.

  3. That depends...I've been working physical jobs for years and I can't sleep because of all the muscle aches and pains. You'd think that I'd be used to it by now. However, that does not mean that I am not constantly tired.

  4. hey dude,

Its true that physical work make you sleep a lot.. Because when you work hard physically your body gets tired and also brain and body gets tired out and wants the new energy to be created which can be created only when you give some rest to the body and brain without thinking and this can be acheived only when you sleep for sometime..

And due to this you lose intrest on work and you try to sleep a lot as your brain doesnt work properly as even it gets tired. So it is more sure that a new energy will be created when you sleep and the brain gets new thoughts to think again.

  5. Of course! That's the only time u're able to rest. Ur body knows it and requests it. Otherwise if u're working too hard, u will tend to fall sick, and that's when u sleep a lot too. Same concept, just that u'll feel more miserable with stuffy nose and painful throat. So y not sleep and build up ur stamina when u're off?
