Does playing Video games affect me in school?

I am going to grade 12 and i mainly play strategy games on my computer, i wanted to know if playing these games will affect my brain and drop my grades

I am not really sure but I think they help you as long as it doesn't hurt your eyes.and if they are games like Scrabble or checkers they will help your strategy

Depends on if you're addicted to them or not, and strategy games won't hurt your grades nearly as much as shoot em ups because there is actually some thinking involved.

as long as u do ur homework and stuff over the games it wont matter if u play them

If you play video games all night and not study then it will drop your grades. If you play in moderation, it may be good for your brain because it is critical thinking. Know how to balance your social/fun time and your study time and you will do well in school/life.

probably not that's just a stereo type that some sh*t head came up with.  games do not effect schooling or brain limitations what so ever i have grades from high B's to A's and I'm going into grade 12 too my favourite games are splinter cell, hitman, socom, gta, call of duty, metal gear solid and rainbow six. its a bunch of bull sh*t lol i wouldn't worry about it.

Problem is, sometimes games get so addicting that no matter how hard you try to push it out of your mind, the thoughts of the game barges in your brain while you're trying to study or do hw. So long as that doesn't happen and you're studying well, then I don't see how it will affect you.

If anything, strategy games should improve your brain power (when it comes to puzzles and such).  As long as you're not playing them too excessively, I wouldn't worry about it.

What people commonly forget is that the entire computer and much of the computer based technology that our world is so dependent on was originally founded by people such as you. Or who started like you. People who spent hours and hours playing games on the old commodore 64s and apple IIs. They eventually created a successful and enjoyable career out of technology. These people often through some means managed to get into net communities, develop powerful contacts, and slowly grew increasingly intelligent.

Video games are a hobby that can simply be a hobby, be a detrimental addiction, or they could vastly improve your life.
