Does playing my laptop in the dark hurt my eyes?

My mom keeps saying that playing laptop, DS, PSP etc. in the dark can really hurt your eyes and you'll need stronger glasses.

Is this true?

The only hurt it will cause is Eye strain, headaches, sore eyes ect. It will not effect your vision. I use my laptop in the dark a lot and i have my vision checked yearly with no changes. Just make sure you have your Psp, ds or whatever on the lowest light setting and even better have your room light on, but im guessing you dont because your mum will catch you on then haha.
