  1. Not many sewage systems work strictly with gravity to move the sewage to the treatment facility.

    "Lift", or pump stations are used to overcome gravity and move the sewage to a higher elevation.


  2. Plumbing systems work on the principles of gravity and airflow, not so much in relations to atmospheric pressure, though that can have some bearing on a specific application.  But to your question, there is no data that plumbing in those cities have any more problems than plumbing anywhere else.

  3. I live right at the beach and our plumbing works the same as it would if it were inland.  We have sewers and pumping stations like anywhere else.

  4. The sewer and water systems in New Orleans work just fine.
