Does poetry really reveal true love?

Question

Not so much in the romantic way but simply in things you are passionate about- such as a career or a hobby. I usually write poetry about my future career, does that reveal true love? I'm not so much questioning it, I just want to know what you guys think.

Writing poetry does reveal true love. If nothing else.. it reveals the love of writing poetry.  and TD is right some do it better than others......case in point TD .

and.....   In the case of Oscar Wilde's  unique philosophy  " Each man kills the thing he loves"

i think it depends on the kind of poetry. if you write constantly about something that might indicate true love for it. i usually write depressing poems, but i don't think i'm in love with hate, if that makes any sense.

Some of the greatest poems have been born from a depressed and disheartened soul.

To be able to write poetry that speaks we almost have to become the person or thing that we write of. We have some knowledge that has been impressed onto our minds that makes us put the words on paper.

If a person can write from various points of the spectrum it will reveal nothing of them or all of them.

I think that you write about your future carreer because you are enthused about it but not because it is true love

all that is just my opinion given freely for you to ponder and I hope that in some way I have kind of answered your question.
