Share a story please. Also, would you ever give someone a book of etiquette, or just tell them they are lacking in the manner department?

  1. Not really.

  2. Poor etiquette should upset all of us.  Etiquette is the "grease" that smooths the social interactions in society.  It is actually MORE than knowing which FORK to use to eat your salad, or when to open a door for someone else.

Share a story?  How many could I share?  Let's see... my bf has no etiquette whatsoever.  He never holds doors open for me, he lets ME open the door for HIM.  It's not that he doesn't KNOW proper etiquette, he doesn't care to show me any respect as a lady, much less his gf.

Give a book of etiquette or tell them?  Both would be a rather rude gesture, and one shouldn't return rudeness for rudeness.  Two wrongs don't make a right.  Unless someone ASKS for etiquette advice, one must simply "buck up" and let things go... unless the person is totally obnoxious about things.  Then a well place, incredulous, "PARDON ME???" may be enough to make the other party "whoa-up" a bit.

    Have a polite day.
