  1. Reality wins in the end.  But if you stubbornly commit yourself to optimism, you'll see positive outcomes as reinforcement for your mentality and disregard negative outcomes as contradictory to your mentality or always see "the silver lining".  Sounds delusional to me, but people say it makes you happier.

  2. That all depends. Sometimes reality overwhelms any positive thinking due to probability that the odds are against us

  3. it definitely helps to be strong and believe in yourself. And sometimes that's all you need to succeed.

Just think why some people have everything and some nothing? It's all in your head.

  4. Look at it this way. If you choose to be negative and live in doubt, then you'll probably have negative things happen to you. So if you think in a positive manner, you're increasing the chance of you having good things happen to you. In your question, you made it seem like reality is on the bad side of the spectrum, but reality can be good or bad. You make the decision. All of the worlds' most successful in business, the Olympics, in the arts, in writing, and in everything else believed they could accomplish they're goals with positive personas. And the worlds' happiest trust in God, and when one trusts in God, he or she will be positive no matter what.

  5. The question is; which is reality?  How do you know that positive thinking isn't the true reality?

  6. I think this is a very interesting question. My grandpa recently died of cancer and had a positive mindset until the very end. I saw a recent video online (sorry I can't give you an exact link) that tested this theory in an accredible lab. They concluded that positive thinking had no affect on the subjects' physical health. Personally, I think if you keep a good state of mind, that will help preserve your drive to survive and quality of life- even if it doesn't help physically.

  7. seek and you'll find. Life have one way direction(you can never be any younger). you'll always reach your goal along the way. (you always need one)

  8. "Positive Thinking" was never meant to mean think you want something and you'll get it. That would be "selfish thinking" not "positive thinking."

Originally, Norman Vincent Peale's "Power of Positive Thinking" meant to think positively about yourself, life, the universe, etc., and align yourself with the mentality of the universe (God/higher power).

It was NEVER meant to mean "ask and you will receive" or other self-oriented things like that. It involved others, not yourself.

Does it work? Yes, if you think of it as being positive about yourself and other people. No, if all you mean is by"using" it you'll get whatever you want. That's simply ridiculous and selfish, like the so called "Secret."

Thinking positively and reality are not opposites...they are the same thing! (Geez, what have you been reading?)

  9. The effect of thinking positively is that you see the opportunity and good things in bad situations if they arise. Which does help in the end.
