Does posting something on here reserve it as copyright?

is posting on an online forum equivalent to a posting in a newspaper

does posting an idea for an invention or a business idea for example, on an online forum like Y!A protect that idea as being 'published' - posted by publication, public announcement yadda...?

    if you want to protect an idea that you plan to patent, don't disclose it anywhere first - that will invalidate your hopes for an enforceable patent as there will be "prior art". No way to defend against that.
