Does primary intention consist entirely of re-epithelialisation?

  1. No... There is still a haemostasis phase, as well as a inflammatory phase.

    This is followed by re-epithelialisation as part of the proliferative phase. The last phase is remodelling.

    All phases are still involved... just not as much as in healing by secondary intention.

    I might be wrong (hopefully someone can shed light), but I remember reading that the inflammation phase provides factors for the proliferative phase to occur... therefore wound healing requires more than just re-epithelialisation- whether primary healing or not
