Prince Edward Island is home to the PEI Rocket of the Quebec Major/Junior Hockey League.  The team originated in 1999 in Montreal, where they played until moving to Prince Edward Island in 2003.  As one might expect, the team was named the "Rocket" in order to honor NHL Hall of Famer Maurice "Rocket" Richard.  As such, the logo features Richard's number 9 and a picture of a rocket.

there was the prince edward island senators in the ahl before they became binghamton...they're the sens farm team.

no that would be a bad team name. islanders, then everyone would get them confused with the actual isles, and they started out in montreal anyways hence the "rocket" name.

They have a QMJHL team called the P.E.I. Rocket

Personally I think it would make more sense to call the team the "Prince Edward Islanders"

Plenty of hockey teams from bantam to juniors. The population's quite large and all hockey-loving people.
