Question:

Does psilocybin (magic mushrooms) indirectly affect cats?

Just to clarify, I would never give my cat psilocybin. My husband and I occasionally use for the metaphysical experience. Yuki is a five year old DSH, adopted almost a year ago from a shelter with no knowledge of her history. When we use, we notice she acts very agitated and distressed around us. After we use, we have to immediately wash the bedsheets and the clothes we wore, because they seem to agitate her as well. Can we pass it along to her through our sweat? Do cats respond badly to the sweat of people on psilocybin? She has even attacked me just as I laid down to go to sleep after having used and my husband had left for work. We have taken to avoiding her entirely during the experience, and I won't use if my husband can't be at the house with me during the following 24 hours because she has really scared me. We would like to know if there's any medical connection between using and Yuki, so we can take measures to board her for a night or something so we don't agitate her like that. We love our cat and we'd like to know why she acts this way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  1. The cats just mad you not sharing they eat mushrooms in the wild I heard it just like catnip for  them.

  2. I am no expert but I would say you have the right answer that the

mushroom has changed either the chemical compound of your

sweat or your smell and it is upsetting the cat. Please board the

cat when you decide to indulge.
