  1. They do not check for that in my area, unfortunately.

  2. h**l no!! they don't check. It is all about the $$. The school dist dont care they just want their $ it is a business to them and very soon all cap is going to hit the fan.

  3. The school system is not set up to, nor do they have the authority to chalk on the immigration status of a student.  If a child lives in the school district, they are admitted into the school.  The free lunch and breakfast program are administered through state and federal agencies that require a proof of need and this could lead to a hint of illegal status.  Income sources have to be checked and verified with social security numbers.  Contrary to popular belief, there are not large numbers of illegal immigrant children benefiting from free lunch and breakfast programs in the U.S.

  4. Sadly,no, they don't check status and these illegal children are eating free lunches courtesy of the American tax payer.

  5. technically no. They have to prove they need it BUT if a child is on things like food stamps, medicaid, etc. it is an automatic free lunch. They just have to have proof of assistance and a ss # but since they are usually stolen, they can give a false one like they do for anything else and the schools don't have the resources to verify it. but if you take any person on "welfare" who auto gets free lunches..then  that in itself just from illegals adds up to billions of dollars per year.

  6. No! Yes they get everything free!!!

  7. Of course not, they don't even check if the child has learn anything.

  8. I dont think so. I know in San Francisco they do not. Nor do hospitals which spend much more money than schools

  9. Not in my city. They allow all children to get an education without any proof of legality of the parents.

  10. My school, the system sucks. But usually they just ask where your from (place, country, you know), and that you live in the area of the school. Other than that, it isn't anyone from the schools busniess!

  11. No. But they may want the info on the student himself. Often, the student is the first generation American and it will have nothing to do with his family who can be illegal at this point.

  12. NO they don't in Texas and the majority of students on free lunches have parents that are illegal. But, the majority of them on those free lunches always seem to have cash to buy chips or ice cream!!
