Does pulling out my ipod cable while its not syncing harm it?

I can't eject it cause it keeps saying some of the files are in use even though all files aren't eg. i have itunes closed and no songs playing.

no it shouldn't

it might say it did but it should be fine i have done it a few times...most that will happen is maybe a song will have no downloaded fully and you will have to download it again
