Does pulling weights on a sled help you run faster.

well i want t opull a sled to make my first step a lot faster to beat defender

  1. It can.  It will primarily help with football type speed.  By that I mean it will help with explosion and quick sprints.  It is not going to make you run 2 miles faster, but it will certainly benefit your 40 time or short sprint on the basketball floor.  

    It is a great excersize, but you don't see it done too often because it is something that requires open space and sufficient equipment.  If you got both then I highly recommend you try it.

Dude if you want to get a quicker first step do track and field like sprinting... i'm guessing though it must be winter where you're at so if you can't do track, try and get access to those big stretch resistance bands you fit around your waist and a pole/column. You can use it indoors and it'll add resistance to your running start. Check the vids on the website below, in particular take note of what Tyson Chandler is using to help his rebounding and jump.

    Oh yeah..... can also do suicides and sideline touches.
