Does pure olive oil freeze solid when left in the freezer?

I marinated a whole Beef Filet in a heavy coat of pure olive oil

and envolved it in a thick layer of Alu-foil and stuck it in the freezer. Since I got told (because of the oil) the meat would not freeze , I was surprised to find both, meat and oil completely frozen. The frozen oil looked like fat from the beef and was solid.

  1. Most Liquids Freeze

  2. Olive oil turns into a solid at about -6C or 21F.  It will start to gel in a fridge.    Freezing meat is bad for it.  It willl last much longer in the fridge with oil on it though than without.

  3. Olive oil will harden in a refrigerator and will freeze yes, but due to it's mixture there is no "known" exact freeze point.
