Question:

Does putting a child care facility in a government building make sense?

Is it a smart idea to put a child daycare in a government building or a building that houses government agencies, such as the DEA, FBI, etc.? Would you put your child in one? Considering the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in the Oklahoma City bombing is what made me consider this.

  1. I think putting a daycare in an office building is an excellent idea.

I would have my child in one without a second thought. Given the

fact that there has been very very few bombings in office buildings

I would not think twice about it. I would rather know my child was near me if she needed me than worry if she was half way across town and there was an emergency.

  2. Well I probably wouldn't if I didn't work there, but if I did work there...I wouldn't live my life in fear because of what some lunatic did almost 15 years ago.

  3. Well, yes. For people that work in that building it is much more convenient to put their small children in a daycare program in the same building. You can't plan for tragedies such as the one in OK City.

  4. Oklahoma City bombing was one event .... If I worked in a federal building , I wouldn't think twice about using daycare there. Things can happen anywhere .

  5. Yes.  Many office buildings have onsite daycare for their employees.  Few families have stay-at-home parents anymore.

  6. ""Considering the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in the Oklahoma City bombing is what made me consider this.""

You're worried about your child? Just look at your Avatar!

And you're worrying about something that happened so long ago.

Sadly - you reflect our nation on all counts.

ADDITIONAL:  Well your question is dripping with fear  - so yes you seem a worried person. Irrational fear i think it's called.

You're probably on pills for your anxiety.

And according to your home page - you claim to be a LIBERTARIAN . Keep taking those pills.

  7. you can't go thru life fearing. You can't safely send your kids to school either but people have to. I think a lot more businesses should provide on site daycare. it would cut down on absences due to inability to find daycare. parents would be more productive without having to worry about what the new babysitter is doing or if the kids are safe. they can just go to the daycare and see. I am all for it.

  8. Lock the kid away in a safety bunker? Terrorist target the Innocent WTC

  9. Many stateside military bases have them. The hundreds of thousands of people who are helped by them every day don't seem to have a problem with it and they are members of the armed services.

Children are in far greater danger driving to these places than they are once they get there.

Like so many other irrational fears held by Americans, the odds of children dying at a government facility daycare center are next to nothing.

  10. nothing makes sense anymore.
