In track, when athletes finish the race to get the quickets time, they stick their head out to get a faster time. Can you stick out your arm out to finish the race?

  1. i think it might depend on where you are. i live in utah and at the high school state meet they stop the clock when any part of your body crosses the line whether its your head, hand, foot, or chest. im pretty sure its that way everywhere else to

  2. I have seen lots of people hold out their arm or the baton.

The only thing that counts is your torso.

The chest should be the first thing you want to break the line.

Nothing else matters, not arms, feet, head, nothing.

  3. i agree with the others here - its ur chest/shoulders. otherwise they would def stick out their arms to finish first! lol. but every yr in XC we go to this one race wear they give u chips to lace thru ur shoes so the chip will stop the time when u cross the finish line. kinda weird huh? lol. so ya thats it :-)

  4. no it ur arm doesnt count, once ur shoulder cross

  5. i've never seen that but i've wondered too

  6. Their time stops when their chest passes the line, so they're trying to get their upper body across first. Hope that helps.
