Does "Blackberry Picking" by Seamus Heaney have a deliberate meter?

  1. Thank you for exposing me to this lovely poem. I notice that the meter is choppy, but not specific, and I also notice that some lines catch and some lines flow, kind of like kids bounding through a thorn-field. I really like that about it.

    Sometimes in writing, the speed of the words is more important than the technical meter. I am not an expert on meter however, so this is just a layman's opinion.

    It's meter is roughly iambic pentameter but it has some variation.
