Does "Girls Gone Wild" videos/shows affect how other nations views American Women/girls?

And if so how? Are American women/girls viewed negatively because of those shows?

I hope not. If people in those other nations believed those videos they see, then they would think that all white girls are stupid attention seekers and that there are no black, Hispanic, or Asian girls in the US. The reason I mention that is because those videos only show attractive young white women.

first off, realize that men produce these videos & market them. so women are not depicting themselves and sending them overseas. they are chosen by the producers. as many girls that say "yes" (some who are drunk), there are girls that say no. and there are girls that dont go on spring break or who take alternative springbreaks (but nobody's making videos about them, i wonder why/???)

second, hollywood does a GREAT job at depicting women (sarcasm) & sending it abroad. the women often sleep with the guy immediately, b/c hey, you gotta get that all in in a 2-hour flick.

**women need to be represented in the film industry. we need to depict ourselves.**

men wouldnt like it if women made all the films and videos and distributed it overseas, and we dont like it either.

holllywood works on sterotypes of women and minorities.

we're depicted but not heard. it's not fair.

as an american woman i have been overseas and have "reaped the (ugly) rewards" of this sterotypical depiction. men have asked me rude questions and assume i am easy -- I AM NOT.  this is disrespectful. there are 150 million women in the usa. we are NOT ALL ALIKE.  this is why stereotypes - esp. such negative ones - are so bad.

after coming back from years overseas just last year, i think america looks like the world's trailer trash.  that jerry sprnger and the like gets broadcast overseas is a disgrace. that we allow him and others like him is an outrage.

Americans are viewed negatively whether other nations watch American Girls Gone Wild or the World Wrestling Entertainment shows. We have moronic politicians and absolutely disgusting entertainment programs. I don't see how Girls Gone Wild has any more affect on how negatively American women are viewed than any of the other trash our "entertainment" media produces. Ditto for how American men are viewed as well. The rest of the world thinks we're idiots.

Depends on the country.  Some places like Italy and France think we are up tight about s*x, but other places like Iraq, Iran, think we are too loose.  We can never make everyone happy, so whats the point.  Live Free!

I dont know about other countries, but Iam aware that America has a wide variety of girls, just like most other countries. Also girls gone wild is more interesting for people who live in America so they can go like "yAh that was totally spring break I live there *shriek*". I didnt ever hear anyone mention these videos in Europe and only know about them cus the produces got sued.

Besides some countries would have to just be quite about girls gone wild. Girls being top and braless in the first place p**n movies shot in the city park it happend on a regular basis during the love parades in Berlin untill the city decided it didnt want to be sin city on roids anymore and killed it.

In some ways yes.

I have talked to men in foriegn lands in chat who have expected me to be ahem " friendly" and when i would not they got angry with me.

So I would ask them, " Do you treat your women the same?"

" no"

" then why are you treating me in such a way"

" because you are american and american girls are sl*ts"

and then I would have to explain to them that we are not all like that. And that I would appreciate a little respect.

sometimes they would cool thier jets and sometimes they would just get even more miffed and leave.

but yeah...i think in some ways videos such as GGW do have an affect on how other countries view american girls and women.

As Rene S noted much depends upon the country - - - those countries that truly view America as an evil place will not be happy until American women dress in a heavy woolen Burka covering them from head to toe plus a veil over their faces.  In fact in places like Pakistan and Iran and Afghanistan as well as Saudi Arabi, they are more shocked by the sight of a woman's unveiled face than they are by bare b*****s!!!

The truth is that some cultures prefer to be intolerant  and will view America in a negative light no matter what images spill from DVDs and Commercials.

Why should Hillary Clinton get air space in Europe when America has "girls gone wild"?

I lived in Germany, people actually go naked on beaches there, why should they care about a bunch of American preppy girls lifting their shirts?
