I was just wondering because someone reported my answer against the guidelines. I see nothing wrong with it. Maybe they thought i was cheating, but i don't look at other people's answers tell after i have answered the question. Let me know what you guys think. I mean i haven't the slighest clue is like saying idk. no harm has ever come out of telling someone that you don't know something.

  1. Its considered cheating because you are only supposed to answer questions you know

  2. From the Yahoo Answer's Guidelines:

"As any Bart Simpson fan can tell you, “a burp is not an answer.” Neither is idk. If your only response to someone’s plea for help is “I don’t know” (and with an abbreviation no less), then please refrain from chiming in. It’s not only annoying to other people, it could be considered point-gaming, which is in violation of the Community Guidelines. A popular variation of idk occurs when the responder has nothing to contribute and just expresses the wish to know the answer as well. Still useless and still a violation."

It doesn't threaten me in any way, but I do find it beyond useless.  If I ask a question and anybody responds with "I don't know" or something of that nature I report them.  Just because it doesn't harm somebody doesn't mean that it should be allowed.  If nothing else it clutters up the site.  Ask questions that are questions, and give answers that are answers.  That's why we're all here.

  3. I'd avoid doing it in the future if I were you.  It can come across as cheating, because it gets you points without actually providing any value to the person asking the question.

When someone asks a question, they just want a straight answer.  If you don't know the answer, then saying so doesn't help anyone.

  4. Only if you are my plastic surgeon and I ask you how you plan to do my surgery!  lol!  People on here are obviously over sensitive.  I have been reported for stupid things too.  Part of being on here.

  5. Answering a serious inquiry with such an answer is a waste of bandwidth.

    It's not threatening, just annoying.

Some-one probably just had had enough.
