Does "SELF POWERED SPEAKER" or "POWERED SPEAKER" mean that you do not need a seperate amp?

What im trying to say is... if you have a powered speaker can you just plug them into your dj mixer without using a seperate amp???

  1. A "powered speaker" is a speaker with an amp inside.  You don't need another amp.  You connect it (usually with RCA cables), and plug it into a power source, and play.

    As for self-powered speaker, I've never heard the term.


  2. The powered speaker has it's own amp.  Self powered speaker means the same thing.
