normally, rain falls diagonally because it usually is very windy when it rains.  But sometimes rain falls straight,but it all depends on mother nature and the way of life.

It all depends on the wind speed.  If the winds are strong, then the rain falls diagonally, but if there is no wind at all, then rain falls straight down, exactly perpendicular with the ground.  And if you get very strong winds, like in a hurricane, the rain is almost horizontal, parallel with the ground.
