  1. Not really.

Paper is made from tree's that are "farmed".

Deforestation, especially of the rain forest, has more to do with the growth of agriculture in the rain forest regions. An example is Brazil. There are gov't programs to encourage biofuels are a fuel source for their country. These uses up much of the cleared land for sugar cane (ethanol) and soybean (biodeisel). This cleared landed was previously used for cattle grazing. Because ranchers now need more land to graze their cattle, they clear cut the pristine amazon rain forest.

Paper recycling is actually bad for the environment. It uses more energy and water to produce paper from recycled material than from wood pulp. It also produces dioxin (one of the most toxic chemicals known to man) in the process of bleaching the recycled paper.

The only recycling that makes economic and environmental sense is metals. All the rest if BS feel good fluff. It should be burned and turned into electricity.

  2. because if you recycle papper you dont have to cut down as many trees to make more

  3. If you mean for lumber, yes indeed. If you recycle and use less virgin raw matieals yes.
