  1. Religious belief costs a fair bit more than being in touch with your inner self. Other than that they're pretty similar.

  2. No

  3. im in touch with my inner self and am completely happy being an athiest

  4. Can't you just meditate to achieve inner peace.

  5. No it is not. There is no inner peace. Only God can give us peace and rest.(spiritually and mentally.) An if it is only God that can do this, then looking for inner peace will not bring it. Seek God's peace and it will be beyond all understanding.

  6. makes sense to me

  7. No.

  8. Not necessarily.

  9. I think religious belief should mean getting in touch with who we really are, but most are really social control devices, intended to keep the masses obeying the ruling class. For example " the Divine Right of Kings" was a tenant of the Catholic church that allowed a king to do what ever he pleased.  Maybe that is why the name of God in invoked so often to get people to agree to fight wars.  If you are looking for a good truly nondenominational book/web site try Conversations with God, by Neale Walsh http://www.cwg.org/main.php
