  1. it depends you could just end up ruining it                              talk to an antique dealer

Anything that is rusted is probably not going to have much of a market value regardless of it's antiquity.  Good condition counts for a lot.  That being said, some things can be cleaned up to restore beauty and personal value.  If you are truly concerned with the market value though you should contact a dealer as they would be able to tell you what to do and what not to do to maintain the integrity of the piece.

  3. follow km advice before you try to clean it-you can de value it fast if its worth anything
