  1. Yes. Your renter's insurance covers your personal property, no matter where it happens to be in the world. And...most renter's policies cover theft as a named peril. But, most people don't realize that most insurance policies have limitations of coverage for certain types of property. Electronic equipment, for example, will almost always carry a limit of liability. This means that if you have 200 cd's, an mp3 player, and a digital camera stolen, there's a chance you won't get compensated for all of it.

Having said all of this, I would definitely file a claim and see how much you can recover from your insurance company.

  2. Depends on your policy.  Some renters policies have on premises theft only - so it's limited to in unit.

It ALSO depends on the types of items stolen.

You'd best ask YOUR AGENT this question.

  3. No. As stated above, your auto insurance will cover damages to the vehicle (nothing personal, just vehicle interior/exterior items) .Your renter's insurance covers personal property inside your house, not condominium common areas.I'd try to check condom. general liability too.

  4. Typically that would be covered under your auto policy not your renters policy.
