First off, you must assume that as a lawyer (albeit a lousy one), B. Hussein Obama understood the underlying racist/Marxist philosophy behind Black Liberation Theology before he embraced it.

Therefore, if you look at the Marxist dialectics behind Liberation Theology and then read the racist twist added to Black Liberation Theology by James H. Cone, you'll see that Wright was only preaching church doctrine which takes on a distinctive "hate whitey" tone.  To support my assertion, I offer the following quotes from James H. Cone's book on Black Liberation Theology:

He reminds me of a cocaine user.  Seriously.  If you watch him preach, he displays all the signs and symptoms of being a cokehead.  I don't know about you, but I was shocked to learn that that is what goes on in church on Sunday in some churches.  Nothing Christ-like about it.
