  1. I have biked a lot these past summers. All biking does is make your theigh muscles much stronger. It also burns fat, but not really love handles, it does help a little there though. Everyone is different though you could burn all the fat on your legs and have a huge stomach. I can burn all the fat on my stomach and have heavy legs.

  2. It is a myth that any particular exercise focusing on a particular part of the body will eliminate fat deposits from a targeted area. For instance, doing crunches does not target mid-section fat. Similarly, riding a bike, which predominately requires the use of one's leg and core muscles, does not burn off fat in those areas more so than anywhere else on the body. It all "comes off" in proportion.

Assuming you have exhausted glycogen stores in your blood (your body's first and most used fuel; carbohydrates) and you begin converting fat cells into usable fuel, your body pulls that fuel from fat cells all over your body in proportion. Most people imagine an incorrect scenario where the muscles doing the majority of the work during exercise burn off the fat that surrounds them.

Now, each person has a genetic makeup that dictates where they will retain more fat. Some folks carry more fat on their stomachs, other their thighs. Women tend to store more fat in their b*****s, hips, thighs, and buttocks. Men tend to store a disproportionate amount of fat around their midsections.

Developing muscles helps accelerate the calorie burning process, but it does so for your entire body, not the area where those muscles are located.

So, cycling will help you lose fat all over your body, including your "love handles," as you progress in the aerobic exercise that cycling offers. The key is to reach an optimum heart rate that you can sustain but is challenging. This is the most efficient way to burn calories. Cycling is a fun way to do this. Running is certainly another, as is swimming, and tons of other sports. Just go with your interest and have fun!

  3. Nope you will need to do some core work! but its great for starters...

  4. Ha ha, that's kinda funny. Bike. Handles. Ha, Yeah i guess, its excersize.
