Does roller blading all summer effect your play in hockey?

this summer i played roller hockey on the pavement almost every day

i just had a tryout for ice hockey yesterday and it felt really weird, i couoldnt even stop, i know how different roler hockey is from ice hockey, how long will it take for me to adjust back into playing on ice?

  2. it takes a little bit, go to some public sessions so you don't look like an idiot in practice like i did.

    when you Rollerblade you get a shorter stride off and you also drag your skate to stop. Also your tight turns will be different on the ice. All its gonna take is a few ice sessions and your back to the usual.

  3. roller hockey is a great way to train off ice but can help to build habits on the ice. what i would do is go to some open skates and just go back to the basics. work on quick starts and stops, pivots, crossovers, long strides, and tight turns. its going to take time but you'll get the hang of it again. and for the future i would suggest if you play roller hockey a few times just go to an open skate just to keep your ice skills fresh so you wont have to start from square one when you get back on the ice. good luck with your tryout
