No, the reason it is called root "beer" is that when soft drinks were in their infancy, manufacturers named them after well known alcoholic drinks they resembled. Root beer looks like a dark beer, Cherrywine looks like wine and ginger ale looks like a pale ale.

no, if it did it would say on the label and it would be in the alchohol section. rootbeer these days is mostly a syrup base and carbonated water. Long time ago when it was first brewed it had a very low alchohol content but that was 100+ years ago.

No, it has a lot of sugar in it though. It's made of caramel, sarsaparilla and sugar.
