Does roundworm medicine for cats also kill tapeworms.?

No - tapeworms are only killed by a medication called Drontal (or a new one called Profender).  Drontal will kill roundworms though.  You'll need to get the Drontal or Profender through your vet.

No, you have to get a prescription from the vet for tapeworms. I went through this with my cat. I thought the worms were roundworms, but the treatment did not work. Then I found out they were actually segments from a tapeworm. You have to take your cat to the vet.

No unless it is a broad spectrum wormer like drontal plus.  You need a medication with praziquantal  for the tapeworm.  Either way, most over the counter meds do not do the trick.  Take the cat to the vet.
