Does royal blue work with chroma keying?

I want to use a blue cloth i found in my closet for chroma keying, but i want to know if it will work, or it will be missing some details.

ANY COLOR can be used for Chroma Keying but if you use anything other than the matte green or blue that is standard in the industry, you take a chance of BLOWING HOLES THROUGH YOUR SUBJECT.

The reason for the traditional matte colors is, they are not used in any normal dying techniques.  Blowing holes in an announcer was common practice back in the early days of color TV
