Does royalty exist?

How did the first king/queen come about? If it was simply a rich powerful family giving themselves a title why do we still recognize "royalty" today?

Someone had to be the first king - did he crown himself?

  1. they voted for one leader..who ruled and got rich and passed it down to his sons. Its the same thing in America if you notice only a select few makes it big time in politics. Whatz the odds of George Bush being prez and his son becoming one.

  2. well i think that people would vote for king or just plain countries and then vote for who became king

but my uncle has a genealogy book and way back in time my family is related to old king Cole

  3. A group of men pledged loyalty to and fought for a man who conquered a load of serperate Kingdoms into a single nation.

It's common sense isn't it? You think Alfred the Great was born magically rich and just claimed the title?

  4. Well Royalty does exist. I think it started way back in the caveman days. One caveman was the strongest so he would be the 'king.' So then, the strongest richest people would be the ruler or someone would take over the ruler.

    Hope this helps!

  5. well it's a thing called monarchy. people chose the person as a good leader and stuff? royalty exists cause it's in their blood...their imperial blood. they were connected someway somehow with the ancestry of the past queens/kings. i have giant family tree of queen victoria...lot's of royalty around in that family.

some guys crowned themselves kings/leaders. napoleon crowned himself emperor of france for example

  6. Nimrod first proclaimed himself king...........way way back in History.

  7. well maybe there rich! have u notice all kings and queen are rich back then?

maybe royalty is around but they call it differently

  8. it all started at the beginning of time but it developed during the dark ages after the fall of rome. People who were wealthy and everyone else depended on them for protection and food.

They worked for them and payed a tax which paid tribute to the king and he offered his protection in return. That grew over time.

Kinda of reminds me of the guy with the monster truck in your rearview mirror who has the extra bright lights and wants to run you over. That guy with a small personal who thinks hes king of the road.

  9. Nobody knows for sure how it started, but I think the reason it still exists in some countries is because you can't really just say "Oh, you were royalty for your whole life, but now you can't be anymore". Whenever a monarchy has been overthrown in the past there was a lot of violence and "off with their head" kind of stuff, and that doesn't happen anymore, or at least if it did the country would probably be tried for war crimes.

  10. idk i guess royalty is still recognized simply because there's no reason to tell someone they can no longer be king

you cant change their family history

and its not like they're born with any power so why not?

they're already going to inherit that money from their family

  11. probably some conceited, selfish fellow.

  12. Some rich F*ck just said I am "King" and his title got passed down to his son and so on, and we still recongnize it cause we just do, no one really knows why

  13. he may have been chosen, I am not sure.
