cause today i ran in 93 degree heat when i normally run in the morning when its around 70-80 degrees and it was a much harder workout then when i run in cooler temperature. so basically is it true the hotter i get, the more calories i burn? or does it not make a difference? btw i ran just as much as i would normally run so my workout was exactly the same(5 mile run)

  1. Okay... 70-80 degrees is NOT cold enough that you're body is working hard to stay warm. Just throwing that out there in response to some of the other answers. Due to that, running in 93 degree weather will burn more calories... especially if you're running at the same pace or a pace very close to your normal pace.

This is because you expend more energy running in 93 degree weather than in 70-80 degree weather.

Expending more energy = burning more cals.

  2. Actually you burn more calories running in the cold, because your body is trying to stay warm. In the heat your just causing yourself to sweat more and get dehydrated.

  3. No, you lose more water weight from sweat, but that's not real weight loss.  The calories burned are about the same.

  4. no, it really doesnt matter at this time of year, however if you run in the winter when its freezing, it actually does burn more because your body has to warm itself up and its muscles to run, which it has to use more energy to do

  5. I would say yes because it takes more effort to run in a more humid environment because it's hotter and more sweat is lost.

  6. i would think so because they say that sweating makes you loose weight/calories so if its hot i would say that you would loose more!

    hope i helped!
