Does salt preserve bananas?

Question

when you put a slice of a banana in a bottle and put a tablespoonful of salt and leave it for one day, will it preserve the banana or not?

Salt preserve's almost everything but obviously not forever and why would you want to but it on a banana I personally like fresh fruit.

Salt is used as preservation so I think it preserves banana also,but then I expect that banana will not be tasty.
