This is part of my science, and I'm fishing around for a good answer! (So far, I've found it to be freshwater, but I want to know other peoples thoughts)

  1. It's salt water. Scientists use something called specific heat to measure how much heat things can hold. For pure water, the specific heat is 1.0. For salt water it's more. I can't give you an exact value for salt water because it will change on where it comes from. Table salt in a glass of water in your kitchen will have a different value than from the Atlantic ocean.

Here's another way to look at it. Salt water has all that salt in it. That salt will also get hot, and it takes longer to get hot. When it cools off, the salt also loses that heat slower. That makes the salt water stay warm longer.
