Does saudi mean 'happy'?

i know arabic names have litteral meanings

like wardah means rose

and asalah means authentic or something like that

does saudi mean happy, does that make it the kingdom of happiness?

  1. SAUDI  ARABIA

    Comes from  the name  AL-Saud family who rules the country, which was their great granfather Saud, so the country is named after the rulers..not the word happy..

    But the name of the kingdom is derived from Al-Saud family, whom control this country.

  4. Not really. But yes it does come from the name Saud... ( Sa'eed means happiness ).. both Saud and Sa'eed come from a root word which means happiness. But it doesnt mean the kingdom of happiness, because its very very indirect....unlike wardah means rose.

  6. saudi = the name of "al-saud"  who named the country after them. that's the only meaning.
