  1. YES MYA THEY TEND TO GIVE YOU BAD HEARTBURN AS WELL AS BAD BREATH. ENSURE YOU TAKE MINTS WITH AND TRY TO AVOID BURPING AS THIS NORMALLY LEADS UP TO GETTING SICK.

  2. They may make you sleep which is what happened to me but then, if you are sick that's a good thing.

  3. Some make you sleepy but it depends on your own body.  My mom and I took the same seasick meds and they made her sleepy but me jittery.

    Personally, I like Bonnie........

    Good luck!

  4. Yes, many seasick meds make you drowsy so that you can "sleep it off."  The best thing to do is to eat salty potato chips if you've gotten sea sick - the salt helps replenish your body.  I got seasick recently on a cruise around the Greek islands and after eating chips, I finally fell asleep and the next day I woke up as if nothing happened.

  5. Mya - saw all your questions, and I realize this is your first cruise, but you're worrying alot about too many unnecessary things.  Go on the cruise, enjoy the experience, you'll meet people and make friends.  See and do the things that interest you and not what others tell you to see or do.

Make sure you take travel insurance - I recommend Travelex as they include hurricane insurance along with all the basic travel insurance and medical coverage and the cost is very reasonable. Most health insurance plans don't cover you outside the US.

Don't bother with the over the counter seasick remedies. If you get seasick, call the ship's doctor, who can best assess how to deal with your seasickness.  He might give you pills, or even an injection, if its serious enough.  The insurance will reimburse you for any medical costs charged by the doctor. However, the way the ships are now built, with stabilizers, thrusters, and pods, the ships are so quiet and smooth that you won't even know you're sailing.

Some suggestions I'd give you are:

Pack 2 swimsuits for each of you (they may not dry overnight due to humidity), lightweight casual attire to wear on deck or on shore excursions, business casual attire for the dining room at dinner, and I always bring along a wrap in case the AC is too cool for what I'm wearing.  Under pack - you'll never wear everything you brought.

If you haven't booked your air, arrive at the embarkation city the day before the sailing.  If you fly on the day of your cruise and you have a delay due to weather or mechanical problems, you might miss the sailing (another good reason to have travel insurance).  If you booked the air thru the cruise line, you can ask for an air deviation to fly in the day before.  Stay in an inexpensive hotel, relax, see the city, etc.

Email me at gsa_stlmo@yahoo.com and I will email you a "cruise tip" sheet I give to all my first time cruise clients.

If you don't have an agent and have more questions, you can email me or call me at 866-485-8175.

You're going to have a great time

  6. Dramamine and the Trans-Scope patch both make you drowsy and give you dry mouth.

No side effects with ginger.  I suggest the candied ginger you can buy at Trader Joe's.
