Does seeing a whale spout count as seeing the actual whale?

  2. Well, you didn't actually see the body of the whale but most people would just say they saw a whale because in a way they did. They just didn't see it perfectly clear. I have seen gray whales spouts but I guess I saw their shining backs as well when they dived again. But I think you can say you saw a whale. Most people would say they saw a whale. Even though you didn't technically see the body people would just call that seeing a whale.........
