I would be inclined to say that it's completely context sensitive, I tell my girlfriend she's s**y, and its a cute, flattering compliment, but talking to other males, it has a different connotation, It's not negative, but it seems to imply that the girl's attractiveness is all she has going for her.

  6. I've always had a problem with the term.  It can make a woman feel like a bit of an object (can't speak for the men though) and that is all she is. When you are a young female, trying to 'make it' in the world and get taken seriously, there's nothing worse than being described as s**y, so I got bitchy instead, and I didn't like who I became.  Thank goodness I've come full circle.  Short answer? Yes!
