Does she mean fully engaged?

I saw my midwife today who said that my baby's head is engaged. I should have asked her to clarify how much but then the conversation moved on and I forgot to ask.

Does engaged mean at 0 station or heading in the right direction?

  1. This is what I found out about baby being fully engaged:

Toward the end of pregnancy, certain physical changes become noticeable as your body prepares for birth. You may experience some or all of these signs before actual labor begins:

    Engagement

During the final phase of pregnancy, the baby descends into a head-first position within the pelvis. This is called "dropping" or "engagement" of the baby. It is also perceived as a "lightening" sensation because, although there may be more strain on the pelvic region and bladder, relief is felt in the chest and upper area of the abdomen.

Engagement can occur as early as 4 weeks before birth, however, a woman could begin labor without the baby becoming fully engaged.
