  1. yes if you use less hot water it means less cold water to heat up means less energy

  2. Yes, and you can also recover the heat that goes down the drain to preheat the water going in. Google "water heat recovery". If you've got a household of a number of people, this could be worthwhile.

  3. I don't shower with cold/luke warm water, but you can get a shower head that doesn't use as much water!! if you don't want to give up your hot water in the bath, wash all your clothes in cold water!!

  4. technically yes, because you use less hot water, therefore, less has to be heated later on. but this difference is amazingly minute. There are plenty of other things you could do as well and  help the environment much more. for example:

use green bins, recycle and compost anything possible

use low flo showers and toilets

Use new lightbulbs which use much less power and are even brighter

    use energystar appliances and technology

take public transit (train, bus, etc.)

switch to or convince your household to switch to a tankless (instant) water heater (rather than paying money and using energy to constantly keep the water hot like in most water heaters, the water is instantly heated only when you need it)

  5. I have no intention of taking a non-hot shower.

  6. yes, but you would conserve a lot more energy, and water, using a shower head with a valve to turn it on and off (eg eye wash stations) and inline heaters at the shower so that you don't have to run the water til it warms up.  These are the same methods used in dry areas where large quantities of fresh water is lacking (LasVegas, Australia, etc)
