  1. Yeah for sure!  I was a skateboarder as a kid and now I'm an adult and a surfer and I've found that some of the same techniques I used when I was 14 on the skateboard (especially in terms of balance) can be applied when I'm on my surfboard.  It strengthens the leg muscles too, and it gives you a certain type of discipline that you'll need for surfing.  Good luck and have fun out there!

  2. I don't know for sure, but I think so. I mean, it's gotta at least build up some necessary muscles, right? Maybe teach you some control...

  3. helps with balance

  4. absolutely, if you have good balance and skills in any other board sports, it will naturally transition over into another sport, I've surfed for a couple of years, and now just picked up wakeboarding and so far I haven't had any problems there will be some changes to get used to,but much of the same body mechanics and physicality is there.

board sports utilize a lot of lower body muscles so if you're pretty good in skateboarding, then you shouldn't have a problem, if anything you could buy what's called an Indo Board, a lot of skate/surf shops carry those because they help to build up your balance an lower body muscles.

and you can also find them online also.

  5. I would say yes because it will help your balance~!
