  1. Well, over a long period of time, it could. But there would have to be ALOT of people smoking.

  5. No.  Smoking does not contribute much, if any, to the greenhouse effect.  The carbon released from the burning of tobacco leaves is part of the natural carbon cycle.  

    Global warming is caused by the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas.  These sources of carbon have been sequestered underground and due to human activities are being released into the atmosphere in short order.  

    Deforestation is also a major cause of global warming, since forests act as carbon sinks.  So, in a roundabout way, if the cultivation of tobacco results in deforestation, it could contribute to some minimal degree - but no more than any other crop.
