  1. I believe it's just a rumor. The only way that could actually happen is if you substitute food for a cigarette. Many people gain weight when they quit smoking because they eat instead of smoking.

  2. don;t know about that but it certainly causes a plethora of other problems

    respiratory disease, COPD, asthma, cancer

cigarette smoking is the leading factor in many, many diseases that kill

oh and it has been proven that it is an addiction that is often harder to quit that heroin....

as far as the  unlikely posibility that it cause weight loss - lets think about why that might occur

       cells starved for oxygen

thousands of chemicals floating around in your body

the body is busy protecting itself and trying to stop the damage

something tells me that it would hardly be worth it.

  3. NO!

But you will gain weight once you quit.

  4. no...

    well not directly.

If you were to get cancer the chemo treatments will really make you lose weight...but no offense there are better ways to do so

go for a walk, or exercise, or if you are in a relationship with someone...well you get the idea.

  5. Well i think it is a rumour because some people say it does keep your hands busy but some of my relatives smoke and they smoke and theyre on diets but they dont seem to drop the pounds because of cigerettes.

  6. No. Smoking teaches you the repetitive motion of hand-to-mouth, hand-to-mouth. That's why when smokers quit, they gain weight. They have a hand-to-mouth behavior and when they don't have a cigarette they replace it with food. Smoking does not cause weight loss but when you quit smoking you'll have the hand-to-mouth behavior and probably gain weight.

  7. Yes. Nicotine is a stimulant, and like other stimulants it  increases your metabolism and suppresses your appetite. So the average smoker is 15 pounds lighter than the average non-smoker.

The effect is reversed if you stop smoking -- you gain the weight back.

Note though that the health effects of smoking are worse than the health effect of the extra 15 pounds!

  8. Not as fast as methamphetamine.
