i realize that our society wants bad news. you will hardly ever hear good news in the news. some news channels have it and others dont, but the people in our culture want to know who died today, who broke up with who, what disasters even is on the news today, or am i the only one who thinks this?

  1. Of COURSE! WHY do you think so many people HAVE TO slow down & look at the Accident they pass on the Highway??! People LOVE "horror stories..." -AS LONG AS they aren't the Ones In them!!!  :0

  2. because there are too many unhappy people in this world who hate their lives. hearing bad news actually made them feel better about themselves. So yes, it's human nature.

  3. People are curious by nature. But it is my opinion that the media thinks we want to hear gloom and doom and stories about movie stars all day long.

So that is what we hear. And we judge our politicians by the standards of the stars, given us by the media. We hear that some news man found a flaw in one of our governors, and we rush to judge.

I wish you could write the media at every chance and tell them we don't care about the stars or the past flaws of our officials and that we would like to her the good new at least 3 days a week. Imagine actually hearing all the great things that are happening and that people are doing! And imagine a politician being able to talk to us on tv without fear of the wrong tone of voice or a phrase they say being picked apart by the media.

I'm ready for the GOOD news!

  4. I think the media is so obsessed with shock value in order to increase ratings, that we as a society are becoming desensitized to normal atrocities (although any horrible thing should be sad, not just the blood and guts or celebrity melt-down). It's depressing to see what has become of "This Just In....News Story". What have we as a society become fixed upon??!! Where do our priorities lie? Shouldn't we be focusing on things that actually affect us....rather than stalking Britney around?

  5. We hear too much of it.

I would also like to have some good news, but it doesn't sell.
