Or does the glass remove most or all of the energy contained in sunlight?

Just wondered if I power one of those portable solar chargers if I can leave it working during the day next to a window.

  1. As long as the glass is clear, it won't affect your solar panel significantly. Some car battery chargers work this way. You stick a solar panel on the dash, and it keeps your battery fresh.

  2. Yes, although there will be a slight loss in efficiency.

  3. Solar cells are covered in glass or plastic in the first place. If it's clear it will work fine.

  4. um.. i'm pretty sure.. considering you can stillm get a tan through a window... but it wouldnt be as strong....

  5. It works fine through windows. You lose a little energy to the glass, but it's not a significant amount and solar panels still work fine in indoor sunlight.

  6. Sunlight's energy is in the form of.... light. Can you see light through this window?
